The KEI week is over and student choir Gica is preparing for its eleventh lustrum. Next semester we will work on the special project ‘Dido and Aeneas’, written by Henry Purcell. We will perform this opera about a tragic love story on February 4, 2022 in the Martinikerk in Groningen. We will be accompanied by a string quartet and a harpsichordist; there will also be roles for soloists. As a warm-up for this major project, we will first practice a number of small pieces by (among others) Bach, Rachmaninov and Whitacre in September and October, followed by a mini-concert in the autumn, to get the taste of singing again after this corona period.
Want to join? You are welcome to drop by on Thursday 9 and/or 16 September to come and have a look, listen or sing along. Everyone is welcome to attend our open rehearsals, whether you have sung in a choir before or just want to see if it’s something for you. We rehearse from 7.30 p.m. to 10.00 p.m. in the Oosterkerk (E. Thomassen à Thuessinklaan 1, Groningen), before enjoying a nice drink in our local.
