On November 6, the Groningen student choir Gica will proudly give its first concert since the start of the corona crisis in Oosterwolde. Led by conductor David van Roijen, the choir will perform its most beloved pieces this time, to celebrate that we can share our music with the wider public again. In this program we draw inspiration from a rich collection of pieces that we have always enjoyed singing in recent years: from bittersweet madrigals and heavenly motets to moving songs by romantic composers. Composers such as Bach, Bruckner, and Rachmaninov will be featured, but also Thomas Tallis, with his breathtaking If ye love me, should of course not be missed.
C.S.G. Gica is an open and enthusiastic student choir that organizes many other fun activities in addition to semi-annual concerts. On February 4, the choir can celebrate its 55th anniversary with a real lustrum concert! Gica will then perform the opera Dido & Aeneas by the British baroque composer Purcell in the Martinikerk in Groningen.
